Radio Museum The steering group membership contains an ex-radio officer fro one of the network of BT radio stations which covered the UK. It is hoped to gather some surplus radio equipment along with photographs and other memorabilia together to illustrate what a typical radio centre was like. Morse code lessons for school children will ensure old skills are not forgotten
Being in a remote location on the edge of Stonehaven and close to Dunnottar Castle it is thought that some catering facility should be provided. The actual size and scope of this will be examined during the feasibility study.
Stonehaven has a large number of voluntary groups meeting and there is a constant demand for suitable meeting rooms at a reasonable cost. It is planned to meet this need by having a selection of rooms at the radio station. Some rooms will be solely dedicated to an individual group as they will require permanent storage for their equipment. Some rooms will be multi-functional with modern facilities to meet the need of various groups.
Always popular on the sunny summer day, the opportunity to be in a large grassy field over-looking the sea is ideal for families. Add the scarce commodities of running water and toilet facilities this is an ideal location. The steering group hope that the adjacent grassland can be used to bring peace and tranquillity into the lives of those using this facility. Summer concerts and small fetes for the local groups are a possibility.
Stonehaven is very popular with tourists passing through and the possibility of having a visitor centre and a hostel will be considered during the feasibility study.
